Yamaha has launched the FZ-X Hybrid in India, priced at ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom), injecting hybrid tech and a modern TFT display into its retro-styled commuter.
Targeting the festive season, the FZ-X Hybrid introduces Yamaha's Smart Motor Generator (SMG) hybrid system. This technology aims for better energy efficiency, offering a mild torque boost for quicker acceleration, silent engine starts, and an idling start-stop function to save fuel in traffic.
The most noticeable upgrade is the new TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. This brings the FZ-X hybrid up to par with rivals, featuring crucial turn-by-turn navigation, real-time directions, intersection details, and road names – a significant tech leap for the segment.

Underneath the updates, the FZ-X Hybrid retains its retro design and core mechanicals. Power comes from the familiar 149cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine (12.2bhp, 13.3Nm), paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Traction control and single-channel ABS are standard.
The hybrid variant sits as the top-spec model, also introducing a new Matte Titan colour option. The standard, non-hybrid FZ-X continues at ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), offering a more affordable entry point.
